Highlight the plants, grasses,

and leaves surrounding the

bottom of the tree trunks

in the foreground. Also

sharpen the grass on the

left. Darken all areas of

the trees, paying particular

attention to the fine twigs at

the end of the branches and

the smaller leaves. Create

shadows along the edges of

the grass in the foreground.

Add light to the boathouse.

Use a white soft pastel

pencil, and gently stroke

over the surface of the lake

in short horizontal lines.

Highlight the lily pads,

and create small flowers

on top of them. Then, very

carefully, place a tiny

speck of bright red pastel

in the flowers.
