Chapter 19: The Report Generator


The report generat or allows you to capture graphical and numerical data at any time throughout the
analysis process and then assemble an HTML-based report using the captured data.

To capture data, you can use the report generat or interactively or in batch mode. To assemble a report
using the captured data, you can use any of these tools:


  • The report generat or itself (either interactively or in batch mode)

  • A third-party (external) HTML editor

  • Third-party (external) presentation software.


Using the report generat or is a straightforward process, as follows:


  1. Start the report generat or and specify a directory to store your data and report(s).

  2. Capture data (images, animations, tables and listings) that you want to include in your report.

  3. Assemble your report using the captured data.

To start the report generator, select Utility Menu> File> Report Generator.Result:The ANSYS Report
Generation window appears, as shown:

The buttons activate the following functions (from left to right):Image Capture,Anim-
ation Capture,Table Capture,Listing Capture,Report Assembler, and Settings. When
using the report generator, move the mouse pointer over any button to see a description
of that button's function.
