86 Who Do You Think You Are?

entertainment industry. It’s not work, it’s joy! But, I don’t sit around
waiting for something to come to me and hit me in the face. I take voice
lessons, acting lessons, I go on auditions, I perform, and I record. I’m
appreciative of my fans and to everyone in my life who’s helping me
with my foundation.
Even though I went to a Christian High School and constantly
had teachers telling me to sing Christian music, I knew that wasn’t for
me. Circumstances made me certain of that. I feel that I can have more
of an impact on a secular crowd, and that’s where my heart is, at least for
now.

What event or series of events led you to your discovery?

I’ve been falling into discoveries since the age of three when my mom
put me in dance! When I was five, my dance teacher auditioned my team
to sing a solo for a charity event. I was picked and my teacher told my
mom she had to put me in voice lessons. My mom always tells me, “If it
wasn’t for Alison, voice lessons NEVER would have crossed my mind.”
Crazy how God places people in our lives!
When I was three I was approached about modeling and that led
to acting. I’ve honestly never really pursued anything, it just all fell into

me because of my attitude and I often get things that much more talented
people probably deserve simply because I’m a hard worker and not a
diva.
After my dance teacher made up a little song and dance number
for me at age five, I started singing at fairs, at competitions and at festivals.
At an art and wine festival, I was approached by someone who suggested
that I audition for a musical theatre production. CMTSJ is one of the
best theater groups in the nation. I auditioned at age nine, got a great
part, and fell in love with theatre.
Acting, modeling, singing, and dancing have all been training
grounds for my purpose in life. So many other things have made me who
I am as well though! My parents raised me to have morals and took me
to church. They’ve been married for 25 years and have shown me so
much love and support. I would NEVER be able to be a performer if it
wasn’t for all of their sacrifices, time, and cheering me on through the
years. God puts people and circumstances in your life for a reason!
I was home schooled in grade school because I was modeling
and acting so much. Okay, I know what you’re thinking... she’s one of
