Themaineventisa paradeduring
whichthetown’sfiredepartment
spraysjasmine-infusedwateronthe
crowds.Youngwomenthrowflowers
intothecrowd,andpeopleonstilts
maketheirwaythroughcobblestone
streetsstrewnwithpetals.
Incenturiespast, Grassehada
thrivingleatherbusiness,butthe
tanningprocessmadeforpungent
merchandise. A local perfumer
offered a pairofscentedleathergloves
toCatherinedeMedici,thequeenof
Francefrom 1547 until1559,andan
