478 MIXED MEDIA
- Work with a partner to produce a podcast to accompany a story
from the school or local newspaper. Remember, a podcast is not a
retelling of a print story. Use sounds and music to make the pod-
cast come alive. If possible, gather quotes from people mentioned
in the article. Present the podcast to the class with a copy of the
news article. - Choose a topic that interests you, and use a blog startup Web site
to create a blog online. Make entries in the blogs, and then ask
your family, friends, or classmates to visit the blog and post their
ideas or responses. Keep the blog running for one week.

- Work with a partner to create a questionnaire asking people where
they get their news—online, television, radio, satellite radio, pod-
casts, blogs—what types of media they use most often and how
they use those media. Then ask 20 people to take the survey.
Compare your results with the class. Discuss why some forms of
media may be more popular than others. - As a class, choose four podcast categories and create a list of cri-
teria for judging them. Nominate the podcast you think deserves the
title of “Best Podcast” for each category. Play your nominees for the
class, and have the class vote to choose the winning podcasts.
