Your Beat

  1. Prepare a fact sheet for your school. Make a list of
the information the media might want to use in writ-
ing a story about your school. Start with the basics,
such as enrollment, number of faculty members, and
the age and size of the building. Then list the things
that make your school unique. Interview authoritative
    sources to get the information.

  2. Write the script for a 30-second PSA to encourage
recycling or a cleaner environment. Target your PSA

to the students if you are using it in school broad-
casts. Target it to the general public if you don’t have
broadcast media in your school.

  1. Brainstorm to come up with an idea for a PSA cam-
paign for your school. It may be one used in student
media or one designed for use by local media.
Prepare a news release or fact sheet, a print promo-
tion, a radio script and a television storyboard for the
    campaign.
