Recap:
The second tournament stop of the season brought the KC Mavs to Springfield, IL. The Mavs were the
only team in their bracket from outside the state of Illinois; they were ready to represent Missouri
hockey all by themselves.
Dungey opened the scoring for the Mavs in the first minute of play, a nice backhand goal that was
assisted by Hargadine, and the Mavs never looked back. They built an 8-goal lead before surrendering
their only goal of the game. Additional highlights included Hargadine’s first between the legs flip
shot/goal of the season, along with the eleventh and final KC goal of the game being Unnerstall’s first of
the season, played off a nice feed from Owings. The Mavs were on the board with their first tournament
win, Unnerstall was on the board with his first goal of the season, and the Mavs were firing on all
cylinders.
