Female empowerment was the theme
of the day when marie claire partnered
with software giant Salesforce to talk
about the working lives of women

“WOMEN ARE
HAPPIER AND
MORE CONFIDENT
AT WORK THAN
EVER BEFORE”

A

ustralian working women
are more empowered,
more entrepreneurial, but
more stressed than ever,
according to new research
into the working lives of the country’s
women. The results of the benchmark
survey – jointly conducted by marie
claire and cloud-computing software
company, Salesforce – were unveiled
in March at the giant Salesforce
World Tour Sydney event.
To explore the challenges
Australian women now face at work,
editor Nicky Briger spearheaded a
panel discussion that touched on
gender equality, unconscious bias,
stay-at-home dads and hopes for
working women in the future.
Briger was joined on stage
by comedienne and Instagram star
Celeste Barber, CEO and president of
Cochlear, Dig Howitt, and the chief
customer officer of David Jones &
Country Road Group, Hannah Ross.
“The overarching conclusion from
the survey is that women are happier
and more confident at work than ever
before,’’ Briger said at the event. “We
are also more empowered than ever,
with 51 per cent of women saying
they are more likely to call out work
harassment than five years ago.’’

Salesforce World Tour
Sydney in March attracted
an audience of some
10,000 Salesforce users.
