› › HOW TO

Step Seven: Expand the layer
group and click on the image layer
to make it active. Using the Move
tool (V), drag the footprint so it’s not
covered by any of the words.

Step Eight: To finish it off, let’s
add a pattern overlay to each word
to give it some texture. Double-click
on the ONE layer in the Layers panel
and choose Pattern Overlay in the
list on the left. We’re going to add a
rock pattern, so click next to the Pat-
tern thumbnail to open the Pattern
Picker, then click the gear icon and
select Rock Patterns. Click Append in
the dialog that pops up. The pattern
I chose was called Granite (sixth from
the end), even though it’s not really
a moon rock—I’m citing creative
license! Change the Opacity to 75%,
the Blend Mode to Multiply, and the
Scale to 150%. Click OK.
Now, Right-click on this Pattern
Overlay effect in the Layers panel
and choose Copy Layer Style. Then,
Shift-click on each of the other text
layers to select them, Right-click,
and choose Paste Layer Style. And
we’re done!
