Where are you from, and what kind of work do you do?
I’m originally from Detroit, Michigan, but now I’m based in
Atlanta, Georgia. I’m a worldwide product evangelist for Adobe.
This means that my job is to excite and inspire people about
Adobe’s design and photography solutions.

Where do you look for inspiration?
I’m inspired by photographers who shoot the same genres that
I’m interested in, which is primarily portraits and travel. I look
for inspiration on Instagram and 500px.com. I’m also inspired by
the vision of a few of the leaders in the tech industry. Before he
passed, I really admired Steve Jobs for his never settling for just
“okay.” He wasn’t the nicest person by any means, but he rarely
settled for less than the best when it came to his products and
brand. Now I would say I look up to Elon Musk for his vision of
a better planet.

What do you enjoy most about teaching?
I never used to think of myself as a “teacher.” I just always
thought of it as helping people get the most out of the same
software and hardware that I’m excited about. I’d say that I enjoy
showing people how to create the things they want, or to make
their vision a reality.

Do you have any work rituals?
I’m a procrastinator; however, I can’t stand any projects hanging
over my head. That means that usually once I start something,
I have to finish it or it will bug me, so I rarely miss deadlines. My
ritual is to examine the task at hand and figure out the fastest
and best way to accomplish it. I usually like to envision the entire
process so that I don’t forget anything. This is also how I pack
for a trip or event.

Are there any hardware or software tools
you just couldn’t live without?
My iPhone Xs has become indispensable. I use it for so many
things, and it’s the computer that’s always with me. Since my job
involves software, I couldn’t live without my MacBook Pro. It’s fast
and gets the job done with the least amount of frustration. Next
up would definitely be my AirPods. While I do love my iPhone,
I don’t like holding it during a phone conversation. The AirPods
work so well, charge so quickly, and can be used one in either ear
(while the other one charges) or both in stereo. Lastly, I usually
never talk about my cars, but Tesla has become one of my favorite
“gadgets” of all times. It’s a smartphone/computer on wheels.
I couldn’t go back to any other car (not even if it were free).
