Step One: Launch Photoshop, go to
File>New, set the Width to 1,000
pixels, the Height to 1,500 pixels, and
click Create. Then click the Create a
New Layer icon at the bottom of the
Layers panel, double-click the new
layer’s name, and rename it “Fibers.”
Press the D key to ensure the Fore-
ground and Background colors are set
to the default black and white, respec-
tively, and go to Filter>Render>Fibers.
Set the Variance to 16 and the Strength
to 4, and click OK to create a random-
ized fiber-like pattern.

Step Two: Go to Image >Adjust-
ments> Curves. In the Curves dialog,
drag the top-right point to the left
one grid space, and the bottom-left
point to the right one grid space.
Click to add a center point on the
curve, and drag it up about one
third of a grid space. Click OK and
the fibers should show some dra-
matically increased contrast. Go to
Filter>Blur>Motion Blur, use an
Angle of 90°, a Distance of 120
pixels, and click OK.
