COCOCROCHETLEE
A designer of amigurumi,
womenswear, home decor and
more, as well as a social media
expert, Lee of Coco Crochet Lee
has many strings to her hook! While she’s now
been crocheting for over 10 years, she
actually began as a traditional canvas artist.
“I went to University for Visual Arts, and so
was used to creating enormous paintings,
and huge drawings with messy chalk and the
like. When my daughter was born, I found
that having all of my art supplies around
wasn’t as easy as it had been... I found classes
for crochet in a local shop, and discovered
working with the different colours and
textures of yarn really helped me express
myself, and it was something easily
transported and easily tucked away as a
young mum. It wasn’t until a few years later
when my son was born that I started
designing my own patterns and expressing
my love for the craft even further. Now I can’t
sit without some yarn in hand, and a design
on the brain. It’s a true passion.
“I find inspiration for my designs in things
that I want to have in my own everyday life.
Whether it be clothing, home decor, or gifts,

I always design things that I would love to
wear or receive. I am very inspired by colour,
and have a wonderful time putting them
together in creative ways. I don’t think any of
my designs really resemble each other, they
are always a new creation, and something I
haven’t quite done before.
“One of my favourite makes is my Coffee
Cup Pullover design, just because the little
stitches look so much like coffee cups to me,
and I was just thrilled at the result! The fit,
drape, and uniqueness of that sweater makes
it one of the most worn makes in my closet.”
