AA: It’s something I find quitedifficult.
Yourlifearoundyouchangesandyou’re

Lastyearit wastoomuch–interviewers
askingmethesamethings,peoplebeing
like,“You’resoamazing.”I justwanted
a bitofnormality,butthat’swhy I’m lucky
withmyfamilyandfriends.
AA: How important is it to keep solid
peoplearoundyou?
JS:Youneedhonest,realpeoplearound
youwhohavetheirownproblemsand
wanttotalktoyouaboutthemandnot
justaboutwhatyou’redoingallthetime.
OnethingI getsadaboutisthatwhen
I’m really busy, I don’t have any time
toseepeople.LastyearI hadnotime.
AndthenI’dhaveaweekoffandI’dtry
tofitinseeingallmyfriends–I hadto
cancelbecauseI wasjusttootired.And
then I’d feel shitfor cancelling. Luckily
they’reallunderstanding.
AA:Whatdoesit meantoyoutobethe

spokenbeforeaboutwhatit meansto

comes responsibility. What would you
hopethatpeoplewillgetfromyoubeing

AA:Whatdoesbeing beautiful mean to
youin2019?
JS:Beingcomfortableinyourskin,and
knowing your imperfections make you
perfect.Youhavetorealise you’vegot

AA: Whenyouwrite songs, which do
youdofirst– lyricsormelody?
JS:I neverwritethelyricsbefore.I justsing

AA: Tell me about the first song you
released,“BlueLights”.
JS:It seemslikeforeverago.It wentabit
mad,butI’dneverputa songoutbefore,
soI didn’tknowwhatwasnormaland
whatwasn’tnormal.Itdidverywell,so
I put out another song, and another,
then just kept putting out songs and

AA: Do youstill write about whatever
you’regoingthrough?
JS: Yeah, totally.I wrote recently,“I’m
constantlyinaweofwhatyouteachme.”
Because I get really angry and my
boyfriend [producer Joel Compass] is
goodat beingcalm.SoI said,“Teach
me.” I wantto stopgettingso angry–
I needtochillout,whichI finddifficult.
AA:Whenyousing,it oftenmakesme
thinkofwhenI watchedAmy, theAmy

JS:I’veactuallywatchedthatdocumentary
