and you can then take this further using
other new features built into Catalina.

Easy to collaborate
The uses for this one feature are almost
limitless because by mirroring the screen
you can share what is displaying on your
Mac with others and they will see the
manipulations you make in real time which
makes it ideal for collaborative working or
for presenting in a much more personal
way. Enabling the feature is exceptionally
easy as well – simply click the AirPlay
icon at the top and then choose the iPad
you want to connect to and the macOS

idecar is a very clever feature that
leverages the iPad screen in a way
that many have dreamed of ever
since the iPad was launched. It doesn’t
quite allow you to run macOS on your
iPad, but it does let you use the iPad as
a second display to show a specific app
or to mirror what is already displaying on
your Mac. When you consider the size of
some of the newer iPad Pro models this
will make for a decent size screen that
will be practical in use as well as offering
an extra function that would otherwise be
unavailable. You will be able to position
the iPad as you need to, flat on a desk
or upright next to your main Mac screen,

options in the same menu to turn off the
Sidebar and Touch Bar, which acts like
the MacBook Pro Touch Bar, on the iPad
and in System Preferences you can also
position these where you want to on the
screen. Some apps allow you to scroll
up and down on the iPad, at which point
you really do get a sense of an amazing
macOS tablet, and apps can be dragged
and dropped between the Mac and iPad
with ease as an added bonus. In most
apps there is also a menu option titled
‘Move to (name’s) iPad’ which lets you
quickly push an app to your new second
screen. This is the most impressive new
feature in Catalina.

Whybuya seconddisplay
when you already own one?
