When filming a live event in a busy location keep an eye on your surroundings.
You don’t want to be clipped by a car when trying to get the perfect angle.

Step-by-step Access news-themed graphics

1

Import clips
In the Projects panel click the ‘+’ icon.
Choose Movie. Go to File>New Event. Label it
‘News Bulletin.’ Click ‘Import Media’. Browse to
our supplied clips. Click ‘Import Selected’.

2

Choose a theme
Click on Settings at the right. Click on the
Theme button to open the Change Theme
window. Click on ‘Newscast’. Click the Change
button to access this theme’s assets.

3

Tweak the settings
Click on Settings again. The Theme of the
project has now changed to Newscast. Untick
the Automatic content box so that you can add
graphics and transitions manually.

4

Add to timeline
Click in the My Media bin and press
Cmd+A to select the seven clips. Yellow
borders will appear around each clip. Press W
to add all of the clips to the timeline in one go.

7

Add titles
Click on Titles to access four extra
newscast-themed titles. Drag the Newscast
title onto the first clips. Drag its trim handle to
extend it to suit the clip’s duration.

5

Add a transition
Click on ‘Transitions’. As well as 24 default
transitions you’ll see four newscast-themed
ones. Drag Newscast 4 to the beginning of the
timeline to reveal the parachute clip.

8

Edit the title
Double-click on the themed title bar to
edit its text. Type new text into the Viewer’s title
and subtitle fields. Add Lower third titles and
edit them to describe other clips.

6

Add more transitions
Transitions reduce the duration of the
programme because they overlap clips to
mix between them. Therefore, add transitions
between the clips before adding titles.

9

Add music
To link your clips, graphics and transitions
click on ‘Audio’. Go to the Jingles collection
and drag Broadcast News Long into the
timeline. Tap spacebar to play your broadcast.
