When a rule is createdin MacMail,at
the end you are asked if you want to
apply it or not. Beware! Apply applies
it to every email in your inbox, which
may be 1,000+. This is great for rules
that add labels or clear junk, but do not
click ‘Apply’ when forwarding or every

don’thavetobotherwithworkemailswhileyouareaway.
A singleemailcanbemanuallyforwardedorredirectedon
theMessagemenuin theMailapp,buthereweshowhow
toautomateit soit forwardsorredirectswhenyouareaway.
What’sthedifference?A forwardedemailis a messagefromyou
thatincludestheoriginalmessage.A redirectedemaillookslike
it camefromtheoriginalsender,youarenotmentionedin the
messageandrepliesgotothesendertoo.Forward emails from specific people or everyone to someone

on the iCloud website run
24/7 but rules created in the
Mail app on the Mac only run
when the mac is on and the

a rule is triggered. Choose
either ‘Forward to’, or
‘Forward to an Email Address’
and ‘Mark as Read’ to send
incoming emails to someone
else when you are away.Trigger condition
Choose what will trigger this
rule by selecting something
from this menu. The most
useful are ‘is addressed to’,
‘is from’ and ‘has subject
containing’. Use the first to
apply the rule to all mail.Add rules
