Bulk recover recordings
You may want to recover more than one
recording, however, so to save time Apple lets
you undelete in bulk. To do this, just start by
pressing ‘Edit’ in the top-right corner.

5

Select the files
Tap the button to the left of any recording
you wish to restore and a blue tick will appear
(you could tick the lot). When you’re finished,
select ‘Recover’ (bottom-left).

6

Confirm recovery
Now tap the confirmation recovery button
which appears at the bottom of the screen and
the recordings will be promptly placed back
into the list of voice memo recordings.

Manually remove voice
memos forever
If you have deleted a voice memo
and you don’t want it on your device,
go to the folder of recently deleted
recordings and swipe left on any memo
you don’t like to reveal an option to
erase. You can also tap ‘Edit’ and tick
as many voice memos as you wish
before selecting ‘Erase’ bottom-right.

Knowledge base

Allow location-
based naming
Although you can re-label
voice memos, the app will
automatically name your
recordings after your current
location. Don’t want this?
Then toggle the switch.

Change quality
If you would like your
recordings at a higher fidelity,
then tap ‘Audio Quality’ and
select ‘Lossless’. They will
take up more space on your
device, though.

Select
deletion period
By default, your deleted
recordings are automatically
removed for good after 30
days. You can change this to
immediately, a day or a week,
or else select ‘never’.

Alter voice
memo access
Go to Settings>Voice
Memos and you can allow
the app to access your
location and mobile data,
and also to refresh in
the background.
