View and manage

your iPhone widgets

A

lthough it’s fair to say that many of us overlook
widgets, they can be very useful. By grabbing
snippets of information from apps and services
or allowing easy access to a specific feature, they’re
invariably productive or fun.
Apple thinks so, which is why, in iPadOS, it is including
an option to display widgets on the iPad Home screen.
But there is no harm in paying another visit in iOS too.
For one thing, they’re already on your iOS device: when
installing apps, associated widgets become available but
you have to activate them first. In doing so, you could be
checking out Shazam’s one-tap way of identifying songs
or enjoying Carrot Weather’s take on a forecast. Retailers
can keep you informed of deliveries and airlines may list
flights. Here we help you get re-accustomed with your
widgets to see what you may be missing out on.

With some careful curation, your screen of widgets can
becomeextremely useful

Step-by-step Set up the perfect widget screen

1

Swipe to the right
All of your iPhone’s widgets are displayed
to the left of the main Home screen on a page
called the Today View. You can see what
widgets this contains by swiping right.

2

Edit your widgets
If you don’t like what you see or you want
to check out what else is available, then keep
scrolling down the screen and tap the button
at the bottom that is marked ‘Edit’.

3

Begin to manage
You’ll land on the management screen
which is split into two sections. The first
contains the currently-viewable widgets and
the second lists the other available options.

You have total control over the widgets that are displayed
on your iPhone and can chop and change them at will...
