notifications – so long as you don’t swipe on a notification itself.

Make good use of your widgets


Widgets are not merely about giving you
information, they can also act as handy shortcuts

Remove entries
First, let’s clean up the Today View screen
by removing any widgets you feel are surplus
to your requirements. Tap the red circle to the
left of an entry and tap ‘Remove’.

Add new widgets
Now you’ve cleared some space, look
through More Widgets, tapping the green
‘+’ icon next to the entries you would like to
include. These will be added to the top section.

Rearrange the widgets
After making your selection, you can
reorder the widgets. Tap and hold the three-
line icon to the right of a widget’s name and
drag into position. When finished, tap ‘Done’.

Use the batteries widget
One of the handiest widgets is Battery
since it allows you to keep an eye not
only on how much juice you have left
in your iPhone but other devices such
as Airpods. Sometimes the widget
doesn’t show as an option. If this is the
case, then ensure you have paired and
connected a device over Bluetooth.
Once you do, it should appear.

Go straight to a tool
Widgets such as this one from
Just Press Record will create
a shortcut to a particular
function. In this case, you can
tap the red button and it will
quickly start recording.

Show More
Some widgets will pull key data
from an app, allowing you to
see information at a glance,
from the current headlines to
the temperature. Tap ‘Show
More’ for extra detail.

Swipe right
It doesn’t matter if your iPhone
is locked. You can still swipe
right and view your widgets
which is a great speedy way
of keeping a close eye on
Perform a search various activities.
At the top of the widgets page
is a search box which you can
use to look for content across
your entire phone in both first
and third-party apps.
