New features in iOS Numbers

A

pple recently updated the iWork suite of
apps on the iPhone, iPad and Mac and
there are some great new features. Here
we take a look at our favourites in Numbers on
the iPhone. Some features are common to all
apps and they work in similar ways, so try these
tips in Pages and Keynote too.
Text styling has received a major update
and if you like to add fancy titles to your
spreadsheets, you will love the gradient files
and the photo fills for text. These new fills apply
to other objects and not just text, so make
your sheets more visually attractive with some
special effects. Numbers is now a bit more
accurate, 128 bits actually. This eliminates some
floating-point errors it used to have.

Greater accuracy
Accurate calculations are
essential in spreadsheets
and small errors can
become significant ones.
With the new 128-bit
calculation engine, floating
point calculations are more
accurate than before.

Compatibility
Numbers for Mac and iOS have both
been updated and have the same
features to ensure compatibility
between them. The features here are
available on the Mac too. Whatever
styling, links and calculations are
applied on the iPhone will be faithfully
reproduced on the Mac when the
sheet is loaded into Numbers. Mac
Numbers files load on the iPhone too.
