Reduce loud sounds

when watching movies

Some films assault your ear drums and make it harder to
hearthedialogue so why not soften louder audio?

D

epending on the film or TV
programme you’re watching,
your ears could be assaulted
by over-the-top sound effects and
music. In some cases, the sound’s
balance will drown out the dialogue
making it difficult to decipher what
someone is saying.
Thankfully, Apple TV lets you
reduce loud sounds. It compresses
the audio signal’s dynamic range
which reduces the chance of you
disturbing others and could also be
particularly useful if you’re watching a
horror movie late at night.
There are a few ways of doing this.
You could switch it on for all films or
toggle it for individual movies as we
describe below. You could even turn to
Siri: just say “reduce loud sounds” or
“turn off reduce loud sounds”.
