from Windows Server 2012 R2 to Windows Server 2016 nodes and from Windows
Server 2016 to Windows Server 2012 R2 nodes. This new capability provides a far
more streamlined upgrade experience to Windows Server 2016, avoiding the need to
create a separate target cluster and avoiding the migration of resources.


Figure 5.33 and Figure 5.34 show an example three-node cluster upgrade from
Windows Server 2012 R2 to Windows Server 2016. The exact same process, however,
would work in the same way from two nodes up to sixty-four nodes.
