Etiologies same as croup

Signs & Symptoms

■Cold symptoms initially

■Later dryness, irritation and coryza

■Fever

■Then 12–48 hours later, upper airway obstructive

■Cough is “croupy” (sounds like a barking seal)

■Then increase in respiratory stridor

■Usually lasts 3–7 days

■Etiologies: usually viral, same as croup above
