FASTER, HIGHER,
COLDER
It’s not easy to load and shoot a rifle
when you can barely feel your hands,
as Sweden’s Hanna Öberg discovered.
The Games featured notoriously cold
weather. The temperature at the start
of the women’s 10-km biathlon (Öberg
finished 18th) was 11°F. That was
balmy compared to the conditions in
the men’s 12.5-km pursuit (right).
It was 5°F when the race ended.
