CONCLUSION
In this chapter we have explored various techniques for recycling texts, to
make you more aware of the intertextual possibilities of writing. Once you
have tried these techniques, you may decide they are going to be central to
82 The Writing Experiment
The truth revealed: ‘‘I was employed to help
Cindee Charming trap her Prince’’
Mary Godmother thought she had found the perfect
job when she read a classified advertising for help in
trapping a man; ‘‘I’ve been married to the man of my
dreams for 45 years and I used more clever tricks to
snag him than you can poke a stick at’’, says the 65
year old grandmother of 17. Little did she know that
she would end up causing the biggest stir Sydney’s
social scene has felt in years. Her employer was
none other than Mrs. Cindee Charming, who wrote
in the advertisement of her “determination to move
up in the world”.The ad promised financial
remuneration in the event of a successful outcome
for Mrs. Charming, then known as Ms. Carruthers.
However Mrs. Godmother says ‘‘After taking on the
job, I gave Cindee encouragement, foolproof tips, I
ran her up a beautiful dress for the ball on the
Janome, and I even got my hubby, Fred, to drive her
to the ball in our vintage Rolls. But I didn’t even get
a thank you card in return, let alone the money that
was promised to me. I’m now writing a book on
how to marry a rich man, and I am hoping this will
bring in some extra money, but at the moment I am
living on the pension and times are tight. I just want
what is rightfully mine’’.
Prince Charming Weds

the night since they met at
Charming’s Masquerade
Ball.The reception was
held at the Regent, and the
couple are to live in a new,
sumptuous home in Point
Piper.
DISASTER STRIKES FOR CINDEE CHARMING
In what can only be described as a double whammy, the most talked about woman
in Sydney, Mrs Cindee Charming, announced today she was being divorced by her
husband of two months, the wealthy heir Prince Charming, after a damning interview
was published in the latest edition of Woman’s Day with a woman who says she was
employed by Mrs. Charming to help her to find a wealthy husband. Following hot on
the heels of this announcement came another, this time from Mrs. Godmother, Mrs.
Charming’s alleged employee, who announced she will be suing Mrs. Charming for
$10 million. It is not known whether the Charmings signed a pre-nuptial agreement.
