your future writing practice, or you may simply draw on them from time
to time. You may want to use them in a very overt way (for example by
including quotations in your work), or more obliquely as a method of trig-
gering ideas for your own writing. We will be considering further
approaches to recycling texts and intertextuality when we visit fictocriti-
cism in Chapter 9. We will also be returning to the idea of recycling again
in Chapter 7, through the postmodern concept of rewriting history.
