In late 2017, the then-teenage Claire Cottrill
became an online sensation when the
YouTube video for her song “Pretty Girl” went
viral. The song’s popularity led Clairo, as the
artist dubs herself, to sign a record contract
with Fader Label and bring out Immunity,
her debut studio album that serves as a
strong collection of indie-pop numbers.

  4. Reflecting on the song’s origins, Clairo
    recalled: “I used like a little keyboard that I
    had and I was really into ‘80s pop music –

    inspired me to do something like that.”

  5. In 2018, Clairo admitted, on the subject
    of her sexual orientation, that she is “not
    entirely straight”.
