14 OS INSTALL

A PC WITH no operating system is like a car without an engine.
To install we need to use the Windows Media Creation Tool so,
using another PC, search for this on a browser. Again, you’ll
need a clean USB drive formatted to FAT32 with at least 8GB
of storage. Click the link on the browser that takes you to the
official Microsoft site then download the ‘Create Windows 11
Installation Media’ option. Once this has been downloaded,
run through the setup wizard and, when it asks you to choose
an option of media, select your USB drive. After this has been
installed on your drive, plug it into your new PC. You’ll need
to re-open the BIOS, so spam the ‘delete’ key again when
booting up the new build. Once there, reorder the boot to
make the USB drive the priority. Then save this and restart
the PC and it should open up the Windows 11 installation
process. Now’s it’s almost time to start to get excited about
all the games you’re about to install.

INSTEAD OF HEADING to a million and one separate websites
to get all the browsers, security applications, media
programs, utilities, documents, image editing programs,
and others you need to get your PC up and running, head over
to the Ninite website at http://www.ninite.com instead. This one-
stop-shop will have all the necessary starting applications
you will need. Check the programs that you want to install
and hit the big download button at the bottom, Ninite will
download the most up-to-date apps you will need, it’s as
easy as that. To ensure your PC is fully optimized, another
important step is to download the latest drivers from your
motherboard support page and also the latest Intel drivers.
Once that’s done, you can finally start to enjoy your new build
and make the most of it in all its glory.

The chrome from our cooler
matches the aesthetic of the
case well but if we could do it all
over again, there is one thing we
would change. Adding a matching
fan to the other side would not
only improve cooling further
but would also create a lovely
bit of symmetry.

A full four-piece kit of RAM
would help brighten up the
inside of this case and would only
further improve performance, so
it’d be a win-win situation.
(^3)
We haven’t always been big
fans of too much RGB but,
ironically, in this case, some RGB
fans would have helped the
aesthetics inside. The light
shining through the front grill
would have looked impressive.

Custom white cables are
always going to look better
than stock ones. It’s a shame we
couldn’t stretch the budget a bit
for this rig, but them’s the rules!
