of Guyana, Brazil,
and Venezuela meet.
Locals call it and similar
flat-topped mountains
tepuis (pronounced
tuh-POOH-eez),
or “sprouting rocks.”
They’re the remnants
of a primeval plateau
that eroded over
millions of years.
