Bad news: 1Password’s fundamentals haven’t changed since

the last time we looked at it. Good news: that’s the right

approach. It remains a logical, secure password manager

with a great interface and functions which go way beyond

simple credential storage. If there’s sensitive info you

might need, you can lock it away here and get at it in a snap.

The US’s largest streaming provider has been

available on the web for years, and now Pandora

is available as a desktop app for your Mac.

It’s similar to the web version (with the addition

of keyboard shortcuts). There’s a lot of empty

space, especially if you’re on the ad–funded version,

but it’s scalable with a responsive design that

reduces the Now Playing view to the track artwork.

The app is divided into Now Playing, My

Collection and Browse, with curated playlists of

music and podcasts. The recommendation

algorithm works well, and the new Modes enables

you to adjust the focus of a station to “deep cuts”

and “crowd faves”, new releases, recommended

songs, or just a specific artist.

It’s pretty much the same experience as

Pandora on the web, and that’s no bad thing, It

does what you expect, adds keyboard control, and

no longer means having to keep a Safari tab open.

THE BOTTOM LINE. It doesn’t look very Mac,

but it’s handy to have Pandora in its own app.
