With six aspect ratio

excuse for not getting

right in-camera

Fast AF
The S1R isn’t great at
tracking fast-moving
subjects, but its
autofocus system is
swift and accurate in
most situations

Excellent detail
The 47MP full-

captures lots of
sharp detail ,and
subjects look very
natural even at

TALKING POINT...

high resolution mode
Although the Lumix S1R has a native resolution
of 47MP, like the S1 and G9 it has a High
Resolution mode. This has two modes, one for
use with completely motionless scenes and
the other for scenes with some movement,
such as leaves and flowing water. Panasonic
recommends that the camera is supported on
a tripod whichever mode is used.
When the mode is selected, the camera uses
the in-body image stabilisation system to move
the sensor by a tiny amount between shots, as
it captures eight images in quick succession.
These files are then merged into a single 187MP
image (with the 3:2 aspect ratio selected).
That’s large enough to make 141.7x94.56cm
prints at 300ppi.
High Resolution mode is only available in the
PASM exposure modes. The smallest available
aperture is f16, and the shutter speed range is
restricted to 1-1/8,000sec.
