mirrorless job

lthough the range of Canon
Mount Adapter EF-EOS R
converters are very good, they
do add extra size and weight to a
full-frame mirrorless body and lens
combination. That can seem rather
counter-productive when one of the
main strengths of a mirrorless system
is downsizing. Thankfully, there’s a
growing range of excellent native RF
mount lenses to choose from.
The natural first choice for most of
us is the highly versatile and
reasonably compact RF 24-105mm
f/4L IS USM standard zoom. The

top-drawer RF 28-70mm f/2L USM
combines spectacular performance
with an aperture that’s two f/stops
faster, but it’s comparatively
enormous, twice the weight and three
times the price. The superfast RF
50mm f/1.2L USM and RF 85mm
f/1.2L USM are also big and pricey. We
really like the compact RF 35mm f/1.8
Macro IS STM, which is great for
everything from landscapes and
architectural shooting to street
photography and close-ups. It’s also
well priced, as is the RF 24-240mm
f/4-6.3 IS USM superzoom.
