opposite of
theminimal
makeup trends recently
seen on the runway,
we’re rather happy to see
the return of the smokey
eye! Leave behind your
memories of the messy,
club rat smokey eye in
2007, though – this
one is much more
sophisticated.
A traditional
smokey eye is seen as
an evening-only look,
but you can bring it out
into daylight if you go
for a softer shade. Try
a taupe shadow and use
a fluffy brush to blend
it out into the crease.
Or try satin browns to
create a spring look.
If you prefer to save
the smokey eyes for after
dark, add some colour.
Green eyeshadow is still trending
and Urban Decay’s eyeshadow in
C-Note is perfect for beginners.
It is highly pigmented with
a micro-glitter finish. Pack it
onto the lids with a flat brush
(a spritz of setting spray on your
brush will make the colour pop),
then use a clean fluffy brush to
blend out the edges so they’re
diffused. If you’re struggling to
get the blending right, use a soft
brown or grey shade as your
transition shade in the crease of
your eye. The key is to blend,
blend and blend some more!
Counterpoint this edgier look
with soft, tousled waves. Don’t
forget your ghd Smooth & Finis
Serum and a pretty barrette to
set your look.
