Below: Victoria and
David Beckham

Nicola is no doubt a cosy little love
nest/starter home.
Still, the Beckhams will be bringing
most of the star wattage on the day.
David’s friend Snoop Dogg will be
DJing at the reception and was
rumoured to be helping to plan a Las
Vegas stag do too. Victoria and David
were invited to the wedding of Prince
Harry and Meghan Markle so may
return the gesture —
especially since the
Sussexes live in
Montecito. It’s a
five-hour flight
commercially, but
much quicker on a
private jet.
We’ll see some
Spice Girls — Mel B
confirmed that she
was going on morning
TV. Kim Kardashian
and Pharrell Williams
came to Victoria’s
birthday party in Miami last year
(close to the football club that David
part-owns). And even just inviting the
Beckham children’s godparents will
turn this into a Holly-wedding:
Brooklyn and his younger brother
Romeo’s are Elton John and David
Furnish — although Elton’s tour is
likely to keep him away — and there’s
godmother Elizabeth Hurley too.
Their younger siblings Harper and
Cruz add to the mix Eva Longoria,
Marc Anthony (Jennifer Lopez’s ex),
David Gardner (Liv Tyler’s ex) and
the hairstylist Ken Pavés.
On the bride’s side? Nicola may
invite some of her past co-stars,
perhaps Mark Wahlberg, Stanley
Tucci or Emma Roberts. She has
appeared in music videos for
Miley Cyrus and Zayn Malik
(and remained on good terms
with Malik’s ex Gigi Hadid
after Nicola dated Hadid’s
brother, Anwar). Nicola’s
grandmother is her maid
of honour, and her brother
Brad, a professional ice

hockey player, is her “man of honour”
(Brooklyn’s brothers are sharing the
best man role, with David thought to
be master of ceremonies).
As for her parents’ friends... well,
we can guess who won’t be there.
Although Nelson once supported
Donald Trump and was said to have
hosted a fundraiser for him, charging
each invited couple £470,000 for the
privilege, he expressed regret at
having voted for him when Trump
failed to condemn the Capitol riots.
Since Trump is such a social media
fan, no doubt he will be disappointed
to hear of the social media ban
imposed on guests, which will stop
him from watching snippets of the
wedding of the year online.
As to the cost of all of this, well,
Brooklyn’s 21st birthday party in 2020
was thought to cost £100,000, with
Stormzy performing, a doughnut
tower for a birthday cake and an ice
luge. But Nicola’s wedding dress alone
— custom-made Valentino by
Pierpaolo Piccioli, who shows at Paris
Fashion Week and Haute Couture
Week — might cost that, or three
times as much. And that’s not
including whatever diamond
showstoppers she may accessorise
with at the suggestion of Leslie
Fremar, one of her close friends and
the celebrity stylist (her clients include
Charlize Theron and Julianne Moore)
who steered Nicola towards the dress
on a trip to the brand’s HQ in Rome.
And that’s just her ceremony dress.
She’ll be changing into a second
Valentino gown later in the day, and
possibly even a Victoria Beckham
design in the evening (diplomatic).
A better steer as to the budget may
be the 2016 bar mitzvah of the Peltzes’
twin sons: the cost was said to be
between £800,000 and £1.5 million. If
£100,000 buys you doughnuts and
£800,000 caters to the tastes of
13-year-old boys, perhaps the rumoured
budget of £3 million for a wedding
spanning three days isn’t staggering
but, frankly, rather optimistic.

B

efore the celebrity
wedding of the year this
weekend comes news
that the happy couple
have signed a lengthy
prenup. Well, you have
to be careful — the
groom is Brooklyn
Beckham, after all. The eldest son of
pop star turned designer Victoria and
footballer turned entrepreneur David
has published a book of his
photographs and is giving celebrity
cheffery a go in front of his fans on
social media, but even so his wife-to-
be needs to protect her assets.
Enter Nicola Peltz. She’s 27 to
Brooklyn’s 23, so more established in
her career as an actress, with roles in
the Psycho prequel Bates Motel and
Transformers: Age of Extinction. But as
with Brooklyn, it’s not really her
money she has to worry about (type
“does Brooklyn Beckham” into Google
and the search engine’s first auto-
complete suggestion is “have a job?”).
It’s the Bank of Mum and Dad that
she’s protecting — Nicola’s parents are
worth £1.3 billion to David and
Victoria’s £380 million.
Although, to be fair, the heiress
would be splitting an inheritance ten
ways. Nelson Peltz and his third wife,
the former model Claudia Heffner
Peltz, have eight children together, as
well as two from Nelson’s first
marriage. Nicola’s mother is 67 and
her father will turn 80 in June (the
Beckhams are in their forties).

Nelson made the money. The
Brooklynite dropped out of the
University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton
School in 1963, instead working his
way up in the family’s food delivery
operation, starting as a driver and
eventually moving the company into
frozen food and buying up similar
businesses. In 1983 he and his business
partner bought a stake
in Triangle Industries
Inc, turning it into one
of the largest packaging
companies in the world
before he sold his stake
for a reported
$840 million. In 2005
he co-founded Trian
Fund Management,
with stakes in BNY
Mellon, Heinz, Tiffany
& Co and others. He
stepped down from
the board at Procter &
Gamble last year. Forbes ranks him as
the 1,931st richest person in the world.
It’s at one of the Peltzes’ properties
— Montsorrel in Palm Beach, Florida,
a 44,000 sq ft Regency-style estate
with sea views, which they bought for
£76 million in 2015 — that the Jewish
ceremony is set to take place. The
family’s other home, High Winds, is in
Bedford in Westchester County, New
York. The 130-acre property used to
belong to DeWitt Wallace, the
co-founder of Reader’s Digest; it has an
indoor ice rink, a flock of albino
peacocks and a collection of old
masters on the walls. Nelson used
to helicopter back and forth to
work in the city before a neighbour
complained about the noise.
Compared with that, the
Beckhams’ property portfolio
of a £30 million Holland Park
townhouse and a £6 million
country home in the
Cotswolds looks rather sweet.
The young couple,
meanwhile, live in a
£7.7 million property in
Beverly Hills, which to
