(Antfer) #1
We’re not sure if its dearly departed,
military-focused author would approve
of its ET-annihilating antics, but this
PvE spin-off sounds like heaps of fun.
Slaughtering alien zombies may not exactly
be classic Tom Clancy, but such a drastic
thematic shake-up at least shows the
series is willing to take bold risks.
Outside of the fact your specialist is
going to be taking down otherworldly
coffin dodgers, there’s not a whole lot of
confirmed info on Quarantine. Set for a
spring release next year, you can be sure
constant co-op comms and creeping
around corridors will be involved. Q

QUARANTINE

Q PUBLISHER UBISOFT /
DEVELOPER UBISOFT MONTREAL / ETA SPRING 2020

If nothing else, Ubi’s iconic spectres are
going to serve up easy thrills for fans of
The Punisher and a certain Austrian cyborg.
Not only is Jon Bernthal bringing his
distinct Frank Castle drawl to Breakpoint as
its apparent big bad, the sandbox shooter
will also feature Terminator-themed DLC.
Based on a lengthy gameplay demo
from this year’s E3, it looks like the series’
traditional co-op, deeply tactical slaughter
is back on the menu. Set on the fictional
island of Auroa, there’s an even greater
focus on stealth than in past entries, with
players able to camouflage themselves
using mud. Q

GHOST RECON
BREAKPOINT

Q PUBLISHER UBISOFT /
DEVELOPER UBISOFT PARIS / ETA 4 OCTOBER

RIGHT Quarantine
looks set to
offer the
tension of
Siege in a co-op
environment.

FAR RIGHT Auroa
plays host
to a number
of different
biomes, from
mountains to
jungles.

FAR LEFT
A modern
Borderlands
could’ve been
a mess, but
it looks this
sequel is going
to knock it out
of the park.
LEFT Outriders
is People Can
Fly’s first
original IP
after splitting
from Epic.

It seems like an ice age ago since People
Can Fly released cult hit Bulletstorm,
but now the studio is back with another
exciting (albeit less sweary) shooter. With
our damp rock on the brink of extinction,
it’s up to what remains of humanity to eke
out an existence on the planet Enoch.
Before this alien world can be colonised,
though, its tripod-like War Of The Worlds
beasties must be beaten back. With
three-player drop-in/drop-out co-op, this
looks to be a more sociable affair than
Bulletstorm. Here’s hoping it captures
even a third of that potty-mouthed first-
person shooter’s charm. Q

Q PUBLISHER SQUARE ENIX /
DEVELOPER PEOPLE CAN FLY / ETA 2020

This upcoming threequel has the coolest
grenades around. While its upgraded skill
tree sounds swell – each of the game’s
four classes now have three distinct
special powers – we’re most excited about
the loot shooter’s ‘nades.
Speaking to our sister mag PC Gamer,
creative director Paul Sage lifted the lid
on Borderlands 3’s bouncy implements
of destruction. “The other day I threw a
grenade that bounced, it would stick, it
would explode and it would fire guns as
it was going. We have a ton of different
grenades.” They fire bullets and explode!?
We’re sooo in. Q
