Tunisian simple stitch 2 together
(tss2tog): Insert hook from right to left
behind next 2 front vertical bars, yo, pull
up lp.

Modified return pass (mod RetP): Yo,
pull through 2 lps on hook.

HAT
With MC, ch 96 (102, 114), being careful
not to twist, sl st in first ch to join, place
marker (pm) at beg of rnd. Set-up rnd:
With MC, *pick up a lp in each ch until
curve requires you to work off lps from
other end of hook, turn work to WS, place
another lp of MC on other end of hook (see
Notes), mod RetP (see Stitch Guide) until
a few lps rem unworked, turn work back to
RS; rep from * around—96 (102, 114) sts.

—Piece is worked in spiral rounds
using double-ended circular Tunisian-
crochet technique. A Tunisian-crochet
round consists of two passes: the
right-side (RS)-facing forward pass
to pick up loops, and the wrong-side
(WS)-facing pass to work loops off
from the opposite end. The main
color (MC) is always used for both
the forward pass and the return pass
unless otherwise stated.

—The stripes are done using the con-
trasting color (CC) on the return pass.
After the contrasting color return pass
is complete, cut contrasting color
only, leaving a 4" tail.
