To help it hold itsshape whilst it dries you can form atinfoil cup in the top of a drinking glass.``````39 For strings of pearls roll out a thinrope of the green and attach it to thepainted area.``````40 Add balls of the green to either sideof the rope.``````41 Vary the sizes of the balls and wherethey are clustered. Add a few strings toeach painted area.``````42 Once your flowers and succulentshave been left to set you can add themto your cake with either royal icing, orballs of white sugarpaste to help anglethem where you want them.``````43 The succulents are held up withwhite sugarpaste balls on the ledge.``````44 For a flexible fantasy flower to fill aspace use some yellow sugarpaste.Roll a cone of paste, flatten it slightlywith your hands and draw a line downthe centre with a Dresden tool. Fromthe centre pull outwards to create littlespiky edges.``````45 Create five of these petals and laythem out in a star shape.``````46 Overlap each petal, similar to how wedid the rose, and stick it with water.``````47 Repeat the process again but withsmaller cone shapes and lay it intothe centre.``````48 This soft flower allows you to sit it intoa space and pull the petals where youwant them against the already set ones.Add three tiny orange balls to the centre.``````49 To add some yellow to the top tier rollout some tapered sausages betweenyour hands. Arrange them and lay themon top of each other at varying heights.``````50 Cut the bottom flat and add thecluster to the back of the rose/succulent.Stick on your raspberries wherever yousee a gap, and also your rose buds.``````51 For last minute fillers, use some ofthe green and roll a cone shape, flattenit with your hand and score a line downthe centre. Add these emerging fromroses etc. And that's it, a quick, bright, flowery cake with no wires in sight!ADD FINISHING TOUCHESp12-16_Tracey Rothwell.indd 16 09/08/2018 17:
