ENTER THE CHINESE FOLD WITH A
FOLDABLE PHONE


While Samsung publicly stumbled in its first
attempt to release the Galaxy Fold back in April,
this hasn’t deterred the South Korean giant from
addressing issues highlighted in early reviews of
the device. A re-fashioned version of the Fold will
hit store shelves in September, the same month
Huawei’s competing Mate X will arrive. That
device will come with a 6.6-inch screen when shut
and an eight-inch OLED one when flipped open.


Xiaomi has also confirmed that it will be bringing
a foldable to the nascent market. While the firm
hasn’t yet decided whether the device will be
called the Dual Flex or Mix Flex, it will be able
to fold down into thirds, with each of its sides
possible to fold down. Xiaomi co-founder and
president Bin Lin has hailed the form factor as
“practical and beautiful”, adding that it “perfectly
merges the experience of a tablet and a phone.”
