user’s mattress, detecting things like sleep
time, heart rate, breathing, snoring, and
bedroom temperature and humidity. Apple
began selling the company’s technology in its
Apple Stores and online and could introduce
sleep tracking as standard in future Apple
Watches, competing with brands like Fitbit
and Withings. A lack of sleep makes us more
prone to serious medical conditions such as
obesity, heart disease, high blood pressure, and
diabetes, so should Apple include sleep tracking
and coaching in a new Apple Watch, consumers
could sleep much better.


Outside of innovations, Apple is reportedly
in talks with private US insurance
companies about subsidizing the Apple
Watch for millions of Medicare Advantage
members, which would not only increase
Apple’s wearables market share but boost its
relationship with medical companies. If every
broker required a smartwatch to qualify for
insurance, Apple could transform the industry
and force healthcare giants to get involved.


HEALTHKIT AND iPHONE


When Apple lifted the lid Face ID in 2017, many
were skeptical over the technology - and Apple
has reportedly been working on bringing
back Touch ID under the screen for future
iPhones. However, whilst Face ID is today
used to unlock your phone, pay for goods via
Apple Pay and chat with friends as a tiger, it
presents immense possibilities for the future.
Eye monitoring, for example, could be a baked-
in Face ID feature, monitoring your pupils to find
signals of a neurological stroke, or even to check
