2 Douglas Armour UK 29pts
Sony A7 III, 24-70mm at 24mm,
1/100sec at f/2.8, ISO 6400
This looks like something straight out of
a fi lm set, and has been expertly crafted
to give it maximum impact. The eye
contact with the subject on the right
makes you feel as if you are actually in
the car with the couple, while the colour
palette is beautifully managed and very
striking. Overall, a very powerful and
original treatment of the brief.

3 Marco Tagliarino Italy 28pts
Canon EOS 6D, 24mm, 1/100sec at f/2.5, ISO 250
Subject, light, composition, colour and tone: everything in this image
comes together to make a powerful portrait. The circle of the wheel
on the left and the way the man’s arm follows the line of the rope
from top left to bottom right help the eye move through the frame
effectively. The distant expression on his face helps convey the idea
that the photographer is working in a non-intrusive manner, despite his
proximity. Detail is well resolved without being confusing to the eye.

4 Gaff ney Taylor USA 27pts
Canon EOS 6D Mark II, 50mm, 1/60sec at f/5.6, ISO 200
This is certainly creative. The use of a block colour
in the background, which coordinates with both
the clothing and the fl owers in the centre of the
composition really make it stand out. This kind
of image may not to be everybody’s tastes,
but it’s defi nitely been executed well.
