Fujifilm is
known for its
retro X Series
of APS-C
mirrorless cameras. It also
made waves when it broke
through the sub-£6000
medium-format mark by
releasing its GFX 50S CSC
range. Building on this, it’s
tearing down boundaries
with the 102MP GFX 100.
Main features
The large DSLR-style body
packs in the first 102MP
medium-formatBSIsensor
to hit the market, utilising
the powerful X-Processor 4
engine to offer phase-detect
AF and 4K video capable of
recording at 30fps, or Full
HD 1080p at 60fps. Add
to that the first in-body
medium-format image
stabilisation capable of
providing up to 5.5 stops
of compensation.
Improving on both the
GFX 50S and GFX 50R’s
contrast detect system,
Fujifilm has managed to
include the same 425 points
of phase detect as found in

this is shaping up to become
a formidable image-making
machine, as well as a truly
la ndmark release for the
professional camera
industry as a whole.

While the sensor may be big, the
body is also less than slight. It weighs
1400g with the EVF – as much as a Nikon
D5. The fixed handgrip brings it to 164mm
tall, but makes one-handed use possible.
2 SENSOR-SATIONAL
Not only does the GFX 100 feature
102MP, but it also boasts a BSI sensor
design for improved image quality and
low-light performance. It’s also packed
with 3.76 million phase-detection pixels.

MOUNTING UP
The GF mount is 55mm in
diameter, to house the massive
medium-format sensor, and
boasts a line-up of incredible
lenses, which are ever-growing
and range from 23 to 200mm.

LCD FOR DAYS
As well as the rear
3.2in 2360k-dot LCD, there’s
both top and rear sub-
monitors that can show
settings, as well as act as
virtual dials. It’s the best
layout we’ve seen to date.
