Founded in 1853, the Royal Photographic Society is one
of the oldest and most respected photographic societies
in existence. As the name suggests, it has enjoyed the
patronage of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II since 1952.
However, the society has recently announced that Kate
Middleton has graciously taken over the reins. An avid
photography enthusiast, the Duchess of Cambridge is
also the patron of Action for Children, and recently hosted
a workshop combining the two. The RPS has said that this
patronage will serve to further highlight the impact that
art and creativity can have on emotional well-being,
especially among children and young people. rps.org
