Phenothiazine withantihistamine activity(similar to promethazine).Used for treating allergiesand motion sickness.

Adverse effects similar tothose of promethazine.

There is evidence thattrimeprazine is moreeffective when combinedwith prednisone fortreatment of pruritus.Combination product isTemaril-P.

2.5 mg/5 mL syrup;2.5 mg tablet.

0.5 mg/kg q12h po.

Trimethoprim +sulfadiazine (Tribrissen,Tucoprim, and others)

Combines theantibacterial drug actionof trimethoprim and asulfonamide. Together,the combination issynergistic, with a broadspectrum of activity.

Adverse effects primarilycaused by sulfonamidecomponent.

Dosage recommendationsvary. There is evidencethat 30 mg/kg/day isefficacious for pyoderma;for other infections,30 mg/kg twice daily hasbeen recommended.

Histamine (H) blocker.Similar in action to otherantihistamines. Used totreat allergic disease.

Adverse effects similar toother antihistamines.Membersofthisclass(ethanolamines) havegreater antimuscariniceffects than otherantihistamines.

There are no clinicalreports of use inveterinary medicine. Noevidence that it is moreefficacious than otherdrugs in this class.
