Michael
Lang
Michael Lang was born
in Brooklyn in 1944 and
was already known as a
music promoter when he
decided to co-organise
the Woodstock festival
with Artie Kornfeld.
Though only 25
at the time, Lang’s
calm demeanour and
organisational skills
helped to keep the
festival running, despite
logistical nightmares,
bigger crowds than
anticipated, huge traffic
jams and downpours. At
one point the National
Guard was nearly called
in, but despite all the
drugs and mayhem,
only two people died.
