Nike Air MAG Back to the Future

Is it back to the future, or a blast from the past? Either
way, it seems you can put a “retail” price on style and
these movie-inspired kicks are right at the top of
that list. The futuristic-yet-retro Nike Air MAGs are
regarded as the most expensive sneakers at resale
with stockx.com recording them at an average $
grand per pair - talk about hiding your money in
your socks. Do these sneakers look familiar? They
should because they’re essentially a replica version of
the iconic self-lacing shoes worn by Marty McFly in
the 1989 movie Back to the Future II. In 2016 and in
honor of the film, Nike produced only 89 pairs of the
limited-edition MAGs that feature a luminescent Nike
logo, adaptive lacing technology and a rechargeable
built-in battery for the glowing LED panels. Due
to the MAGs extremely limited quantity and high
demand, Nike had to raffle them off in a lottery
system at $10 a ticket with all proceeds being donated
to charity.
Nike managed to raise an amazing $6.75 million from the
sale of their MAGs donating all the proceeds to the Michael
J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
