I commend you on your summary of the two faiths. But I don't think using the criterion of a faith "working"
is useful. Remember, there are tribes in Africa who believe the moon lies just beyond the seeable horizon
and is actually made of a cheeselike substance. This belief "works" well for them-it fits into their creation
myths somehow, and they have no need to test it. But such a belief is an absurdity.
