reported from Thailand (Table5). Patients with-
out malaria had more comorbidities (Table6).
Most of the patients with malaria used the
antimalarials atovaquone/proguanil and meflo-
quine (Table7). Five male patients (33.3 %,
95 % CI, 0.1–0.6) with malaria and four patients

(10.5 %, 95 % CI, 0.008–0.2; one female) with-
out malaria had used antimalarial chemoprophy-
laxis. Two of those patients (13.3 %, 95 % CI,
0.0–0.3) had discontinued malaria prophylaxis
prematurely due to intolerance. There were no
deaths in either group.
