Skin lesions on extensor surfaces of arms and legs, oral lesions.


❍ What is a pathognomic finding of oral lichen planus?
Lacey white pattern on the buccal mucosa referred to as Wickham’s striae. Can also have painful ulcers/erosive
lesions.


❍ What is lichen planus caused by?
Unknown but is an auto immune response of activated T-cells to basal layer of keratinocytes.


❍ What is the treatment for lichen planus?
Topical and oral steroids. Retinoids used for dermal manifestations as well.
