The Woman in Black
Around the corner
I see her.
Along the streets
I see them.
The one
Who bound me.
Her ravens
Who watch me.
I cannot be freed.
And I warn you to beware
Of the woman in black
And her ravens
With feathers and coat
Of night and dark.
She will bind you
With her spell.
And beware
Of the rose she holds.
She is not a woman.
They are not ravens.
It is not a rose.
She is a witch.
They are ghosts.
It is a wand.

A Writer’s Spell
Pen and paper,
Mind and heart.
Words form into sentences,
Sentences into paragraphs,
Paragraphs into pages.
Pen, connect to paper.
Mind, create.
Heart, infuse emotion.
Spin a story.
Mystery, magic.
Harsh futures, the truth of now.
Create an epic of emotions,
A fable of feelings.

A Fire Spell
What is this?
It’s a book.
Let’s open it and take a look.
Spells inside, spells and spells,
Spells that can make you f ly and spells to create water,
Spells that can even turn you into a furry brown otter!
Which to choose? I think this one,
A fire spell, oh this will be fun!
Light and heat,
Make me have a nice hot treat!
Create me a roaring f ire
That will grow higher and higher.
Let it burn until I say
“This is enough for the day.”
I like the sound of that spell,
But this one will also work as well:
Horns and scales,
Wings of fire,
Enter me with enough power and heat to melt wire!
Turn me into a green dragon
With enough f ire to f ill this flagon!
I can only choose one,
So, which to choose, which to choose...
