Ronaldo questions the modern
football transfer market

There aren’t many 16-year-olds who have
got the better of Paris Saint-Germain, but
the midfielder was the star of the show
as Rennes upset the odds to beat the
defending champions 2-1 on the second
matchday of the new Ligue 1 season.
In only his third league start for the
club, he ran the game and set up Romain
Del Castillo for the winning goal. In doing
so, he became the youngest player to
provide an assist in the French top flight
since such statistical analysis began.
Born in Angola in November 2002, he
moved to France with his family as a child
and a month after his 16th birthday he
made history as the youngest player to
sign a professional contract with Rennes.
After a debut as a substitute away at
Angers in April 2019, he started a game
for the first time in May, against Monaco.
He thus became the first player born
after 1 January 2002 to start a game
in any of the top five European leagues.

RAZVAN MARIN
(Ajax)
Highly rated midfielder snapped up from
Standard Liege. Two-footed and sees
passing lanes very early.

GEORGE TUCUDEAN
(CFR Cluj)
The Romanian striker’s goal knocked
Celtic out of the Champions League.

STRAHINJA PAVLOVIC
(Partizan Belgrade)
The teenage central defender was signed
by Lazio in a €5.5m deal but loaned back
to Partizan for the season.
